Dear Schubert School Families,

Welcome to Schubert School! We are honored to have your child in our school and we are excited to work with you and your child throughout the year on their academic success. Everyone who is employed at the school looks forward to being a part of the academic progress your child will make.

We expect EVERY CHILD, EVERY DAY, will learn to the best of his or her ability and achieve more in one year than they ever thought possible. As a parent you are an integral part of your child's education and should have extremely high academic and behavioral expectations for your child as well in orer for them to succeed.

Communication with your child's teacher is a vital key to their success and academic accomplishments. Parents can contact their child's teacher in several ways. Teachers can be reached through the main office at school (773-534-3080) , via their voicemail or through email which is located on this site. If you would like to talk in person, please schedule appointments before school, after school or during the teacher's prep periods.

Please make sure that you review the parent handbook with your child, especially the required dress code and policy on attendance and tardiness.

There are several simple ways in which you can help your child at home without taking up much of your time:

• Read to your child – at least ten or fifteen minutes a day.
• Set up a quite place for doing homework
• Review homework or school assignments.
• Tell family stories.
• Set limits for television.
• Know your child’s teacher.
• Talk about the days events.

I look forward to a very successful year!

Sincerely, Elba M Maisonet
